Our School
The Central R-III School District is comprised of two Elementary Schools, one Jr. High School, and one High School. The District is known regionally for outstanding academic achievement and, for many years, consistently met the requirements to be recognized for Distinction in Performance by the Missouri State Board of Education and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The work of staff and students makes our educational institution successful on many fronts.
Each year, several Seniors earn their Associate of Arts Degree prior to graduating from Central by participating in a joint program with Mineral Area College. This is an excellent opportunity for our students that most high schools in Missouri cannot provide!
Central graduates are very successful after graduation whether they choose to enter the workforce, join the military, or pursue a post high school education. Central alum includes lawyers, doctors, nurses, teachers, military, and many other professions. We are very proud of our graduates and look forward to seeing them achieve great things in life.
In addition to outstanding academics, Central also boasts some of the finest facilities in the entire State. The patrons of Central R-III have continuously been generous to pass bond issues to improve facilities for our students. In June 2020, the voters once again passed a bond issue to construct a storm shelter at the High School, make parking lot improvements, provide HVAC upgrades, and add several safety improvements across all campuses. The District is very appreciative of the support the community consistently provides to be able to build and maintain facilities. As a result of that support, Central R-III School District facilities have been featured in a number of architectural and building publications over the past several years.
Athletic teams have also enjoyed their fair share of success, including the winning of District Championships in the 2023-24 school year in football, boys basketball, girls basketball, baseball, and softball. The football team is a stable State playoff team and has won the District championship ten of the last 14 years while becoming the Class 3 State Champion this past year! Central baseball teams have historically been very successful, winning a State championship and participating in multiple Final Fours, and look to continued success in the future. In 2020-21, Lady Rebel Volleyball finished 2nd in State with an exciting run to the championship game. Girls’ basketball teams have also enjoyed great success at the District and State levels. In the 2014-15 school year, the Central Lady Rebels basketball team became Class 3 Missouri State Champions. Since then there have been multiple District championships with a 3rd Place State finish in 2022-23 and a 2nd Place State finish in 2023-24, both those finishes in Class 4. Lady Rebel Softball played for a State Championship in 2017-18, finishing 2nd, while making another trip to the Final Four in 2021-22 with a 4th Place finish. The boys' basketball team has won Districts eight of the last eleven years culminating with a 2nd Place finish in State in Class 4 in 2022-23. Finally, each year several wrestling, track, and Cross-Country athletes compete for State championships.
In addition to the sports listed above, the District has enjoyed very successful cheer and dance teams, with the Dance team for the second straight year placing 1st in the Hip Hop category at their State competition. Furthermore, Esports and Robotics have been popular programs for students the last few years while flourishing at both the State and National levels. The District is also very proud of its Band, Choir, Academic team, Speech/Debate, FBLA, and Drama students that thrive in competitions and/or performances throughout the year.
The Central R-III School District, as can be seen by reading the information above, offers a great opportunity for students to maximize their full potential in a nurturing and academically-centered environment through many educational, extracurricular, and co-curricular activities. Please enjoy the information on the website and contact the District office, or any building office, with questions.
